Every computer has the potential to be used as a radio through streaming radio technology. American Media Services believes the radio industry should capitalize fully on this technology to reach additional listeners. The Internet division of AMS (AMSi) provides guidance for radio station owners and operators on how to set up and manage streaming radio sites.
How AMS helps
AMS helps station owners with every aspect of this process. AMS knows the regulations associated with streaming radio sites, and ensures that companies set up their sites within federal guidelines. Assistance is also provided through the licensing process. AMS works with radio stations to create their streaming sites, providing guidance about how to make the sites work smoothly and offer a clear, consistent sound.
Why streaming?
Streaming radio sites are an enormous opportunity for radio station owners and operators. There is great growth potential in streaming radio, as radio stations are able to reach more people more of the time through these sites. Listeners benefit from streaming radio sites, as well, because the sites allow listeners access to their favorite radio stations from any computer, anywhere in the world.
Sample sites
AMSi has two sample websites to demonstrate the division's ability to create streaming stations and to help radio station owners through the process.
The two AMSi websites pay homage to AMS' home in the Low Country of South Carolina: www.beachmusic.net recognizes the importance of Carolina beach music that started in the 1940s, and www.southernfriedrock.com plays songs showcasing the Southern origins of rock music.
